Ariana Grande Donates Atlanta Concert Proceeds to Planned Parenthood

Just days after anti-Pride protesters rally outside of Atlanta concert, Ariana donates proceeds to Planned Parenthood.

Despite Georgia’s new restrictive abortion law, Ariana Grande recently donated her proceeds from her June 8 concert to Atlanta, Georgia. To protest against Georgia’s anti-abortion laws, the “Thank U, Next” singer donated $250,000 of her concert’s proceeds to Planned Parenthood. Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp signed the “Heartbeat Bill” on May 7. Georgia’s “Heartbeat Bill” is set to go into effect January 1, to prevent women from getting abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, typically as early as six weeks. Hollywood has been protesting against this action by threating to pull productions from the booming entertainment state. Walt Disney Company CEO, Bob Iger told Reuter that it would be difficult for the film studio to continue working in Georgia if the bill become law. More than 40 celebrities including Alec Baldwin, Amy Schumer, and Alyssa Milan signed a letter to Governor Brian Kemp promising to urge Hollywood studios to move productions away from the peach state. Likewise, to Grande, stars rather offer support than battle the new law. Reported by CNN, Filmmakers J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele promised to donate 100% of their show proceeds, “Lovecraft Country”, to the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia and Fair Fight Action. “Lovecraft Country” is a new show filmed in Georgia. “Ariana Grande’s generous donation comes at a critical time-in Georgia and across the country, anti-women’s health politicians are trying to ban all safe, legal abortions. Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Dr. Leana Wen said in a statement provided to numerous publications. Leana continued her statement by saying, “This is not what the American people want, nor is it something they’ll stand for.” Ariana Grande continues to inspire young women with her generous support to Planned Parenthood. A source expressed sincere gratitude to Grande’s donation, “Thanks to inspiring support like hers, Planned Parenthood can continue to fight back — in the courts, in Congress, in state houses, and in the streets — against these dangerous attacks on people’s health and lives.
